Sometimes we shorten it to BML. But really there is nothing like exclaiming to your partner, “Beautiful Male Lover, let’s …make lunch” or whatever. I have found this term of endearment to be quite dear indeed… and so for a year and half I have been BML as well as having a BML. …anyway try…

Beatnik Cafe in Joshua Tree
After spending a wonderfully productive evening in Yucca Valley at The Pottery creating buddhas and snakes from clay with my friend Maya, by sheer chance we went into the Beatnik Cafe in Joshua Tree to find that they were showing films. FRANK ZAPPA, in a film called Baby Snakes. What a treat. Alot of claymation…

Gopher Snake
This is a dead gopher snake found on Hwy 62 in Wonder Valley, CA. It was already in this shape. Took it home in the back of the truck and layed it on the tiled table for it’s farewell photoshoot. Printed 30×30 canvas prints also a run of postcards, and some 12×12 matte prints.
Scorpion
Desert wildlife served up on a tile. Scorpions don’t hold much of a threat. They just look a bit intimidating. This photo was taken in 2003 in Wonder Valley. I did a run of postcards of this image as well as 12×12 archival prints. All images are available by contacting magentaRaven.
Vera in Wonder Valley
Who says nothin happens in Wonder Valley? Being in the middle of nowhere you get a lot of surprises. Vera came down a few years ago from San Francisco with his partner Michael Johnstone and we played campfire together. Marshmellows anyone?
