You might have wondered, did I fall off the face of the earth? Hence NOctober posts. After taking first prize at Metro Galleries in Bakersfield in September at Latination II …October was there, waiting for me…telling me to prepare for the Hwy 62 Art Tours, firing the kiln when ever possible and creating thirteen new mosaics.

This years tours were the best ever for me in nine years. Record sales and a great turnout for both Mayah and myself. Thank you Mayah for all your love and support and firing my clay in your Cress.
Then, Action Council for 29 Palms asked me to supervise the Mosaics in the Plaza project. This will involve eight or so artists to create 8 squares for the sidewalk on the historic plaza on Two Mile Rd. Completion in April 2011. Got my construction hard hat ON.
During the Art Tours I was asked by Eva Soltes to mosaic the shower and bathroom at Harrison House, built by Lou Harrison, composer, in Joshua Tree. This a magnificent house, in a gorgeous setting. Now a house with an artist in residency program. I am honored to take on this project. A side note and not related to Lou, George Harrison’s graphic designer did some beautiful work painting borders and designs in the back courtyard of the house. Soon I will leave my imprint there in broken shards of colour and texture.
Then, November arrived and I entered two pieces at the 29 Palms Art Gallery and won 2nd place cash prize for my giclee, photo montage with paint, mixed media, that you can see here below, entitled “California Landscape”

Meanwhile, getting ready for a holiday show here in Santa Barbara at our home and studio… do I smell hot cocoa and cinnamon???
